The long list of activities to complete the Accord

The European Consumer Coordination Accord gave a long action list to bring out the activities in Bangladesh. They said that the government's regulatory body must show the skills of the garment factory to understand the responsibilities of the Accord. Apart from this, the risk of the factories, the legal system against non-compliant factories, full transparency in governance and progress in reforms and labor safety-related complaints should be investigated and justified.

In accordance with the Bangladesh time, the Accord published their worklist on Thursday, in a statement on their website. It has been claimed that the government has allowed the Accord to continue its operations even after May next year. The Accord will handover responsibility to the government's government to achieve inspection, renovation and ensure workers' safety. However, the government said that after the current term, the alliance's tenure could be extended by six months with the conditions.
It has been stated in the statement that on October 19, the deal was signed between the trade and trade unions, the Garment Manufacturers' Association BGMEA, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Ministry of Trade and Labor, signed with the Accord. After the coming year, the Accord is ready to operate with all concerned. The Accord is committed to ensuring the safety of the workers who are engaged for the contractual brand until the transfer of responsibility to the government agencies.
After the collapse of Savar Rana Plaza, the alliance alliance for five years for the development of the country's garment factories and the alliance of North American buyers is formed. Both the coalition expires in the coming year. Alliance activities take maximum six months after the specified period. And in June, the Accord announced that they will run the program till May 31, 2021. However, due to the opposition of BGMEA, the government and the readymade garment industry owners, the situation is slightly different from the previous position.
BGMEA vice-president Mahmud Hasan Khan said in the first light on the action plan given by the European buyers in handing over the responsibility, "Capacity building is possible to achieve according to the program. It will take some time for that. Since that thought, the approval of the Accord has been approved for six months. '
Roy Ramesh Chandra, the Accord Steering Committee member, said in the first light, there is no scope to be dependent on anyone outside of life. If the government works sincerely, the ability to work in accordance with the Accord's workbook does not matter. Owners must be respectful to the law. At the same time, there should be a constructive and constructive role without showing the negative attitude of the United States with the workers' movement.
The government and BGMEA meeting with the alliance's Steering Committee in Dhaka was decided in the meeting that the government body has been able to understand the responsibilities of the Accord, the Joint Supervision Committee will observe. In this, the government, BGMEA, ILO, will be the representatives of the contracted brand and trade union with the Accord. The committee will monitor progress twice a year. The committee will ensure that the Accord's tenure increases six months from the time the government has achieved its capability. This alliance will be handed over to European buyers.
After the talks, the Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed told reporters that the Accord proceedings were concluded on 31 May. Then they can leave. However, it will require interim period to hand over the responsibility to government agencies and for six months. It will be called 'Interim Accord'.
The European alliance said in their statement that 47 brand and purchasing companies have already signed the accord with the Accord's new agreement, of which 1,200 factories are involved in the production of garments. But the statement did not say anything about the interim Accord. After the current tenure, new rules or regulations will be applied, they have not opened it. But the new rules will be implemented after inspection of factories, garments, equipment and packaging products in the garment sector supply system and inspection of the workers' organization independence within the factory.
Mahmud Hasan Khan said that the distance between the government and the BGMEA and the Accord was created. It has already been reduced. No rules will be followed in future, it has not been cleared in the last meeting. But the first meeting of the supervisory committee will try to spend many smogs.
